About Monkey Riot Pedals
Monkey Riot Pedals is Mike Purcell. Mike is a Native Nashvillian who has worked in the Music Industry since the mid 90's as an Engineer and Producer.
"I'm a Nashville native who grew up just south of town in the Brentwood/Franklin area of Williamson county. I've worked in the production side of the music industry since 1994, starting out as a staff engineer at The Castle Recording Studios. In 2000, I setup a room at County Q Productions in Berry Hill and have made that my home base since then. In the early 2000's, I was working primarily as a mastering engineer, as well as being active in the local rock scene playing guitar in bands. In that era, I founded a company, Digital Audio Miracles that developed software for file transfer between Radar Hard Disk Recorders and ProTools. By 2005, I was mixing full-time, primarily in the demo industry, with a album projects here and there. In 2012, I began mixing post production audio for TV and Film and began to develop an interest in video production. In 2013, I founded 6minor Films and developed a series called "Songwriter" which ultimately found it's way to Hulu for a period of time. Around that same time, I began finding and producing bands - I'd see a band play a great show, then talk them into recording a song with me. One band led to another and I made a lot of great friends and made a lot of great music. This led to Monkey Riot Recordings - I started out doing live performance videos for some of my favorite Nashville bands and also released my personal projects under this label. You can find them on Bandcamp:
Currently, I'm building a lot of pedals but spend time mixing and mastering a variety of projects across all genres. I'm also an adjunct instructor at Nashville State Community College (Live Sound, Mixing, Mastering & Music Production courses.) Since 2022, I've been doing some editorial writing for Premier Guitar Magazine. I'm looking forward to what the future holds for Monkey Riot Pedals.
